Finding an air conditioner that works with a smart plug is tricky due to both amperage concerns and the fact that fewer and fewer air conditioners are operated with mechanical controls (i.e. a rocker switch or dial), which of course are necessary for smart plug compatibility. The Frigidaire FFRA051WAE is one such air conditioner.
This little A/C can be turned on and off remotely using smart plugs to make sure your place is cool off by the time you’re home. According to the manual, it uses 4.9 amps, which is below the max amperage of many smart plugs, (often 8A). As always check your smart plug specs.
