If you want to build a Harry Potter themed ‘Christmas Village,’ you have a lot of options, thanks to both Department 56 and The Bradford Exchange, who both produce beautiful (sometimes hand-crafted) replicas of the locations, buildings, and characters needed to recreate the world in gorgeous detail.
There are so many options, you might not know where to start. You have a few directions you can go, if you want to buy by theme. Here are the three principal locations you can choose between:
Hogwarts Castle
Diagon Alley
Hogsmeade
Now let’s break down what basic buildings are available for each location, and later we’ll cover others that bridge the gap and augment each world.
Hogwarts Castle
This one is pretty simple. Links open in new tab and go to Amazon. As you probably know, prices change all the time on Amazon. All prices are as they were listed on 12/4/23.
In January 2025, Department 56 released the Malfoy Manor ‘Christmas’ village lit building — a dark but important addition to their Wizarding World collection. Malfoy Manor is, of course, the stately home of Lucius, Narcissa, and Draco. And for me personally, it’s hard to think of Malfoy Manor without thinking of the murder of Charity…
The Leaky Cauldron, of course, is the London pub with a brick wall in a courtyard that opens up to reveal Diagon Alley to Harry’s wonder and amazement (and ours!). Dimensions: 7.91 in H x 3.03 in W x 4.88 in L Oh, if you’re wondering what the heck Enesco is, it’s the parent company…
Wow, Department 56 really goes for it. I did not realize they’d added Shrieking Shack to their Harry Potter collection of lit buildings/Christmas village houses. I might have shrieked a little myself. As all fans know, this was the playhouse for Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot, and Prongs when Lupin was in his werewolf state. If you…
This Department 56 rendition of Borgin and Burkes is a must when adding Knockturn Alley to your Harry Potter Christmas village. No Diagon Alley would be complete without it. Dimensions: 6.26 x 4.25 x 8.74 inches This particular piece is sometimes available on Amazon, but it’s usually relatively easy to find on eBay.
Who among us doesn’t wish they had a Honeydukes in their town center? If you’ve gone to the Honeydukes at Universal, you can’t help but smile at the world they crafted. The brightness, the colors, the variety — and best of all, familiar favorites from Acid Pops to Cauldron Cakes. When cozied up at home,…

Bring the joy of Hogsmeade to your home — this time with a hand crafted ‘The Three Broomsticks’ lit building from Department 56 (minus Ron ogling Madam Rosmerta). Dimensions are 9.25″ H 7.68″ long and 4″ W. The building illuminates using a standard light cord and 120V bulb. If you’re short on outlets like I am,…
Another beautiful piece from the Harry Potter Village Collection from Department 56. Available on Amazon Prime with free returns. Dimensions: 5.28″ L x 4.72″ W x 7.88″ H. Retired by Department 56 in December 2020. Can still be found on eBay occasionally!
This light-up, musical tabletop Christmas tree will bring Harry Potter cheer into a space of any size. A little Flitwick stands wand in hand atop a gift at the base of the warmly decorated, 12″ tree. The lights have a gentle flicker and the flip of a switch plays Harry Potter music “from the first…
Check out this adorable light up Hagrid’s Hut from Department 56. When you’re recreating the Hogwarts grounds, ya gotta have Hagrid’s hut! The Hagrid and Buckbeak figurine can be bought separately on eBay. Explore all Harry Potter village items from Department 56 on Amazon.
These hand painted Harry and Dumbledore figurines are the perfect addition to any village. Harry’s holding his wand ahead of him, no doubt about to cast his favorite spell, Expelliarmus. And there’s definitely more of a Richard Harris vibe to this Dumbledore, as opposed to Michael Gambon. They’re about 3.15″ (8cm) tall. Explore all Harry…
Here’s a gorgeous, hand painted figurine of the blind Gringott’s dragon. It looks particularly fitting perched on the Gringott’s light up building, but would work great on a bookshelf, too. I wonder if this could be rigged to the top of a Christmas tree. Its dimensions are 7.36″ long x 6.18″ wide and 7.01″ tall….
Your Harry Potter ‘Christmas’ village wouldn’t be complete without this hand-painted, light up Gringott’s Bank figure from Department 56. The dimensions are 10.16″ tall, 4.53″ L x 5.35″ W. It plugs into a standard outlet. Unfortunately the escaped dragon figurine standing atop is sold separately and (extreme Moira Rose voice) absolutely critical. Sorry, been watching…
